Green spaces in Trieste range from the grand parkland surrounding the Villa Revoltella, to a small public park handily situated near to the cathedral. With its winding paths, formal flower beds and resident swans, the Giardino Pubblico is a tranquil place to enjoy a stroll. There is also a small playground for Trieste's younger visitors.

Giardino Pensile di Via San Michele

This once-abandoned park has been restored to its former glory and is now a popular meeting place for locals in Trieste. Civico Orto Botanico (Botanical Gardens)

Trieste's Botanical Gardens are situated on an artificial island and are dedicated to the study and conservation of the wild flora from the surrounding Friuli Venezia Giulia district. Included is a wide variety of aquatic plants and swamp life. The gardens are known locally as the Civico Orto Botanico.

Parco di Villa Revoltella

Situated on the outskirts of Trieste, this park surrounds the villa that once served as the home of Baron Pasquale Revoltella. Although the villa itself is not open to the public, the Parco di Villa Revoltella is a pleasant spot in which visitors can relax.
